Dear Community,

We write to you today with warm hearts and an overwhelming sense of gratitude to all who participated in this week’s Save Seneca Lake Fund Raiser.  Hundreds of you came, and thanks to all of you, we raised $45,000 in three and a half hours!

From the farmers who donated food, to the amazing cooks who prepared it, to the artisans who donated their fine crafts, to the business owners who donated services and goods, to the hard working volunteers who toiled endlessly, to the Hazlitts who donated space and helpers, to the hundreds of you who came and gave what you could- whether it was ten dollars to thousands, to those who couldn’t make it but donated online- words simply cannot express how thankful we are to each and every one of you.  We should all be proud to live in such a strong community that is so passionately committed to protecting our home and our lake.

A very special thank you goes out to Margie Rodgers, our fund raising coordinator, who pulled all of this together, and who, a year ago today, completed an 82 mile prayer walk around Seneca Lake.

We made enough to keep us in the fight.  We need to raise about $50,000 more, but that is within reach. If we can’t win this, nobody can.

You can donate online by going to: www.gasfreeseneca.com, or by mail:

Checks can be made payable to: Sustainable Markets Foundation, with “Gas Free Seneca” in the memo line.

In case you missed it, please watch the special message from Bill McKibben of 350.org sent along for our event:

Thank you- our gratitude runs as deep as Seneca Lake itself.

Sincerely,
